5 journal prompts for unconditional self acceptance

I make mistakes.

I say dumb things.

I try and I fail (learn).

I’m clumsy as hell.

I frequently take 5 steps forward and 20 steps back.

…. And you know what, I’m cool with it because that’s who I am.

THE SELF LOVE vs. SELF ACCEPTANCE DILEMMA

I don’t need to be in love with myself every moment of every day. I just want to be able to accept myself as I am, and the circumstances I am facing at any given moment.

Over the past year, I shifted my focus from tirelessly trying to practice self love to being open to the idea of simply accepting me for ME.

I see self acceptance as a way to transparently recognize and appreciate both my capabilities and my flaws. It gives me permission to be more patient with myself as I work through my struggles and it takes away (or at least reduces) the internal judgment I place against myself on days when I was having a hard time.

If you’re someone who struggles with the idea of loving yourself (you are NOT alone), I challenge you to reframe your perspective.

Work through the five journal prompts below to get a better understanding of how you can practice more acceptance towards yourself.

Self Acceptance Journal Prompts

  1. How do you define self acceptance in your life?

  2. Do your habits and routines (mindset and physical) demonstrate your definition of self acceptance?

  3. What is your biggest challenge as it relates to self acceptance?

    • Why and how is this challenging you?

  4.  Think about your challenge as it relates to self acceptance. If a friend were experiencing the same hardship, what would you advise them to do?

  5. How can you work on practicing more self acceptance towards yourself?

Which prompt resonated with you the most? Share your findings with me in the comments below!
